Gotta Stay Fresh
Oh my, look at that shine, but it ain't on my neck, or my wrist, or my ride,
Ya boy's so bright for what he's got inside, never been so fresh, you can bet, I've tried.
I had mad cash, and I bragged on swag, my righteousness was as filthy rags,
I was clad with the flash, from videos and the mags, it was sad 'cause I was going to die.
Thought I could see where I was goin' but was just use to the darkness,
My heart was somewhere else so you can say that I was heartless,
Was filthy and profane an offense to Jehovah's nostrils,
Quite literally "hot to death" and headed to hell regardless.
God who knew my heart was evil, changed what clothed my worthless ego,
Died for me so I could be, so new, so def, so clean so (Fresh).
I partied with rock stars, sipped bubbly, I dated the movie stars, they were lovely,
The One who created stars saw me as ugly, unclean, unfit, yet He still loved me.
Held me close, took care of me and told me to call Him Daddy,
It's why I love Him like I do, but I ain't Dietrich Haddy.
I put away lying speech, lasciviousness and greed,
Was driving my way to hell in a chromed out Caddy.
But Jesus grabbed a hold of the wheel and busted a "U"-ey,
And took over 'cause He said I didn't know what I was doing,
And I guess I was so close I didn't see the trouble brewing,
Didn't care about my life or the hatred that I was spewing.
But, God had a new direction had plans for the kid,
Every day I get new mercies so ya boy stay crisp!
I said 'good bye' to the pride, had enough of the lust,
Man, there's got to be change, 'cause He paid so much!
Thought He couldn't save me, but I've since learned,
I was purchased 'as is' there are no returns.
And the price was way high, more than I could earn,
And He paid it knowing money's not the only thing that burns.
He's the King, He's the Rock, there is none higher, I drop to knees and call Him Sire,
To live for His kingdom that's my desire, and I won't stop serving 'til I retire.
And I won't retire 'til my life's expired, I'm running on different currents, I've been re-wired.
Mind's been renewed my walk should be too, so I gotta stay fresh in all that I do,
Which means I can not act unseemly, live for God 'cause He redeemed me,
Grace and mercy given freely, brought me back from death to fresh!
